Alsodepending on the fit of the model (it varies greatly with revell check scalemates to see the age of the tooling) you might need to invest in some putty. Also in general sand paper of varying grits say 600-4000 is good to have.
Hiall, I just recently got back into building models after taking a 15 year hiatus. Unfortunately my cat decided to use the open kit box for the Revell B-17 in an emergency situation and left a very runny mess all over the only thing in the I see that I can order replacements directly from Revell online, but they are noting that it could take
Sofor the sails I just did like a 1/20 thinner and Tamiya brown and used a big brush and basically just kind of slipped the brush up and down on it until it looked right. Not a perfect Science to it, just kind of did it until it looked good. I've never done any of that kind of weathering stuff on other models so it was a learning experience.
Jetwise Academy has a 1:48 F16 that should interest you. In general I think the better the kit (read more expensive) the better for the new person. The fit and finish is just better, and you are likely to be more happy with the result of your work over a cheap kit that the parts just don't line up quite right.
Thebiggest expense is paint, 2-3eur/gbp/usd per color + coatings, washes, and other stuff. ten colors on a model, add primer, clear coat, matte coat, thinner, cleaner, (filller) and thats 50 eur/gbp/usd right there. Speciality tools are also expensive, but those are nice to have usually. I would reckon a 1/48 model on discount - 30, basic tool
. Hasegawawere the gold standard back when Revell, Monogram, and Heller were the main offerings. Some of their older stuff isn’t great (but that goes for pretty much any model company), and they have notoriously sparse cockpits but they usually have good fit and are engineered well. I find their decals are terrible though, either so thick
PostedSeptember 1, 2017. The revell aqua paint is fairly thick, i use the revell aqua semi gloss black over other brands as its so easy to use. I tend to use a 1:1 mix of water and paint and spray about 15psi. I sometimes add water to the paint pot every now and then to thin the paint as it can dry out.
Modelslike this do, however, fulfil an important role as an "everymodeller" kit - a straightforward build at a reasonable price. These kits are worthy successors to the classic 1/32 scale Revell kits of the 1960s. I am very pleased that Revell has added the Hurricane to their list of new tool projects. Purchased by Reviewer
Revellhas a lot of older reboxed kits so the quality is spotty. They market more towards the casual model maker as opposed to those making museum quality products. When they
Revellmust be the kaka of modeling. Revell must be the kaka of modeling! I am in the process of building Satern V rocket and the two halfs are at least a .032 off from each other. Absolutely great service! I'll be being him more Revell kits due to their good build quality and great customer service. Revell, you've made my boy very happy
